Terms & Conditions

By purchasing a class, class package, or subscription at Brooklyn Hipsters Dance Studio, you agree to the following terms:

  1. All Sales Are Final

Class purchases and class packages are non-refundable and non-transferable. No credits, refunds, or exchanges will be issued once payment is completed. This does not affect the one-time rescheduling option available for drop-in and trial classes, as outlined in Section 3.

  2. Expiration
    • Single class purchases must be used within 30 days of the purchase date.
    • 4-Class and 8-Class packages must be used within 30 days of the purchase date.
    • Unused classes do not roll over and cannot be extended.
  3. Missed Classes, No-Shows & Late Cancellations
    • The 24-hour rescheduling option below applies only to drop-in and trial classes. It does not apply to class packages or subscriptions.
    • If you are unable to attend a scheduled drop-in or trial class, you may request to reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. Rescheduling is not a cancellation and does not result in a refund or credit.
    • Failure to notify the studio at least 24 hours in advance will result in the class being marked as used, with no rescheduling option.
    • Missed classes are not refunded or credited, except in the case of a documented emergency (a serious personal health issue or the death of an immediate family member). Approved emergency credits must be used within 30 days of the missed class.
    • Drop-in classes and trial classes may be rescheduled once, provided the studio is notified at least 24 hours in advance. Rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before the class will not be accommodated.
  4. Dress Code
    • Sneakers or athletic shoes required — no crocs, sandals, Uggs, boots, or open-toe footwear.
    • Bottoms: joggers, sweatpants, leggings, or similar athletic wear.
    • Tops: t-shirt, sweatshirt, hoodie, or similar athletic wear.
    • Clothing should allow full range of movement.
    • Students not in appropriate attire may be asked to sit out for safety reasons.
  5. Studio Locations

Some classes take place at different studio locations. It is the customer’s responsibility to check and confirm the class location at the time of booking.

  6. Class Schedule & Substitutions

Class schedules, instructors, and styles are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to provide a qualified substitute instructor if needed. If a class is cancelled by the Studio for any reason (excluding scheduled holiday closures), the student will receive a credit toward the following class cycle.

  7. Arrival & Late Entry

Please arrive on time. For safety reasons, students arriving more than 10 minutes late may not be permitted to join the class and will forfeit their session.

  8. Photo & Video Usage
    • Photos and videos may be taken during classes, rehearsals, and events for studio promotional use (social media, website, marketing materials).
    • By enrolling, you consent to this use unless a written opt-out is submitted to the studio.
    • Opt-outs may be submitted at any time via email or text. We will make reasonable efforts to honor opt-out requests but cannot guarantee removal from group or candid shots.
    • No personal recording of other students is permitted without instructor permission.
    • If choreography or footage filmed at the studio is posted anywhere by a customer, the studio must be tagged, and the studio’s permission must be obtained prior to posting.
  9. Choreography Ownership & Copyright
    • All choreography taught at the studio remains the sole property of Brooklyn Hipsters Dance Studio and/or its choreographers. Enrollment grants permission to learn and perform the choreography solely as part of studio classes and events — it does not transfer any ownership or usage rights.
    • Students may not perform, teach, restage, or otherwise use studio choreography outside of the studio (including at another studio, in an audition, or as instructional content) without the studio’s prior written permission.
    • A customer who violates this policy may be held financially responsible for any damages resulting from the unauthorized use, and the studio reserves the right to pursue legal action under applicable copyright law.
  10. Subscriptions
    • Subscriptions are billed automatically on a monthly basis. The billing cycle renews once the current class cycle (e.g., 8 classes) has been completed, rather than on a fixed calendar date.
    • All subscription payments are non-refundable. By subscribing, you agree that cancellations will not result in a refund for any unused portion of the billing period.
    • Customers may cancel their subscription at any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
    • Missed classes under a subscription are not refunded or carried over, except as outlined in Section 3.
  11. Health & Liability

By participating in classes, you acknowledge that dance involves physical activity and assume full responsibility for your health and safety. Brooklyn Hipsters Dance Studio is not liable for injury sustained during participation. A signed waiver may be required at registration.

  12. Illness

Students with a contagious illness should not attend class. Classes missed due to illness follow the standard missed-class policy (Section 3) unless the situation qualifies as a documented emergency.

  13. Behavior & Respect

We maintain a positive and respectful environment. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in removal from class or the program without refund.

  14. Changes to Terms & Pricing

We reserve the right to modify these terms and our pricing with 10 days’ notice. Continued use of your class package or subscription constitutes acceptance of any changes.

  15. Subscription Travel Proration
    • Subscribers traveling and unable to attend classes may request a prorated adjustment to their subscription, once per season.
    • Notice must be given before the start of the next billing cycle. The proration will be applied to either that cycle’s payment or the following month’s payment, at the studio’s discretion.
    • Requests made after the applicable billing cycle has started will not be prorated retroactively.
    • This applies to subscriptions only and does not extend to class packages or drop-in classes.
    • Separately, one (1) travel-related class absence per season may be excused, provided the studio is notified at least two (2) weeks in advance. This counts toward the standard missed-class policy in Section 3 and does not entitle the customer to an additional credit beyond what Section 3 already allows.
  16. Failed Payment Policy
    • If a scheduled subscription payment fails due to a card decline, insufficient funds, or any other account issue, a late fee of $5 per day will be applied for each day the payment remains uncollected.
    • It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure valid payment information is on file and to resolve any failed payment promptly.
    • If a payment failure occurs more than three (3) times during the season, a one-time additional fee of $25 will be applied to the account.
    • Each additional failed payment after that will incur a further $25 fee.
    • If failed payments continue to occur, the Studio reserves the right to cancel the customer’s account and suspend the student’s participation in classes.
  17. Facility & Fee Adjustments
    • The Studio reserves the right to adjust pricing due to facility-related changes, including but not limited to a change in studio location or an increase in facility/rent costs.
    • If such an adjustment is necessary, it may take effect mid-season or at the start of the new year, at the Studio’s discretion.
    • Customers will be notified of any such change and the updated pricing in advance of it taking effect.
    • Continued use of classes, packages, or subscriptions following such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated pricing.
  18. Studio Closures & Holidays
    • The Studio will be closed on designated holidays each year.
    • Monthly tuition and subscription fees are not prorated or reduced for holiday closures, as pricing reflects a flat monthly rate rather than a per-class rate.
